LANCASTER: Rita F. Happeny, age 74 of Lancaster, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on May 18, 2017 at Fairfield Medical Center. Rita spent her life taking care of others, was a devoted loving wife and best friend as well as being a wonderful caring mother and grandmother.

Rita owned and operated an adult care facility in Pleasantville for over 30 years taking care of the elderly and developmentally disabled. Rita was a long time member of New Life Christian Center with her husband Larry.

LANCASTER: Rita F. Happeny, age 74 of Lancaster, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on May 18, 2017 at Fairfield Medical Center. Rita spent her life taking care of others, was a devoted loving wife and best friend as well as being a wonderful caring mother and grandmother.

Rita owned and operated an adult care facility in Pleasantville for over 30 years taking care of the elderly and developmentally disabled. Rita was a long time member of New Life Christian Center with her husband Larry.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Rose) Caraway, Celina (Joe) Hardy, Larry Jr "Joe" Happeny and James Happeny. Grandchildren Gary Jr, Thomas, Amber, Aaron, Alex, Allison, Colten, Calie; great grandchildren Trinity, Sammy, Brayden, Gracie, Gunner, Logan, Lincoln, Jazmyn; sisters Margaret (Junior) King, Barbara (Al) Enge; brothers Ray Hughes, Carl (Ruthann) Hughes, Larry (Verna) Hughes.

Rita married Donald Caraway at an early age. He passed away early in their marriage. She then met Larry Happeny who she was married to for 45 years before his passing in 2008.

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Cleo Hughes; husbands Donald Caraway and Larry Happeny; children Donald Jr Caraway and Duane Happeny; sister, Bonnie Paige.

Funeral service will be held at New Life Christian Center on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 at 12:30PM. Friends may visit from 10-12PM at the church on Tuesday. Burial is to follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.haltemanfettdyer.com
